Lone Star Rubric
The Lone Star Rubric provides a research-based framework that helps schools evaluate the strength of their leadership and instructional systems. It outlines key indicators across areas such as leadership effectiveness, teacher quality, instructional planning, and systems that support student success. Rather than serving as a compliance checklist, the rubric is intended to guide reflection, identify strengths, and highlight opportunities for system improvement.
The Leadership Playbook supports the use of the Lone Star Rubric by embedding its indicators into monthly leadership work. Throughout the year, principals and leadership teams use the rubric to reflect on campus practices, analyze evidence, and prioritize high-impact improvements. By aligning reflection, planning, and implementation with the rubric’s indicators, the Playbook helps campuses move from awareness to action and sustain continuous improvement over time.
